Leech Letters - Issue 7 - Relentlessness

Welcome to another edition of Leech Letters.

I wrote about this yesterday on Instagram, but let's get honest about what it means to chase our goals without mercy.

It's all too convenient to hide behind "I'm swamped," "Tomorrow's the day," or the classic "This one time won't make a difference." These excuses, posing as legitimate barriers, are nothing but smoke screens for those who lack the will to push forward.

When I find myself leaning into these voices in my head, I deploy a no-nonsense tactic: fast-forwarding to my final moments and trying to justify to that future self why I let dreams slip through my fingers over something as foolish as not meal prepping, procrastinating on errands, or yet another evening of doom-scrolling on my phone. The so-called 'solid ground' of these excuses crumbles instantly under scrutiny.

It's the minor concessions we fool ourselves into making—"Just this once," "I'll double down tomorrow"—that insidiously chip away at our resolve. Think of it as a crack in your foundation; ignore it long enough, and you'll find everything you've built teetering on the brink of collapse.

This isn't a guilt trip for savoring a well-deserved break or cherishing downtime with those closest to you. It's the comfort zones we willingly chain ourselves to that we need to smash. The true warriors among us are those who relentlessly say no to temporary pleasures for the sake of their ultimate mission. They're the ones who aren’t afraid to step into the unknown, sacrificing the guaranteed for the sake of what could be. They dismiss the path of least resistance and refuse to let societal norms and expectations dictate their journey.

The individuals who truly excel are those who bear the scars of their sacrifices, those who navigate life with unwavering purpose and accept the price of their ambitions. They are the ones who, when faced with their final moments, can proudly declare they've wrung every last drop from the life they've lived.

Chad Koeger’s lines from the song If Today Was Your Last Day fit perfectly with today’s message;

Against the grain should be a way of life What's worth the prize is always worth the fight Every second counts 'cause there's no second try So live it like you're never livin' twice Don't take the free ride in your own life (What if? What if?)

If today was your last day, would you stand tall, knowing you refused to back down, or would you shrink, haunted by the what-ifs?

It's time to rise, to confront our choices (big and small) with fierce resolve and carve out our legacy with bold strokes.

Keep the fire burning,

- Leech
