Leech Letters - Issue 2
Welcome back to Issue #2 of Leech Letters.
I had a friend recently ask me why I’ve been sharing more stuff on social media, putting out guides, and creating programs for others. One of my biggest driving factors is to do what I can to move this field forward.
As Strength and Conditioning Coaches (particularly college coaches) we wallow in the negatives of this field. Long hours, low pay, lack of respect, the list goes on. The only way we change that is by being a positive force ourselves and actively work to make the field better.
I didn’t have a Strength and Conditioning Coach when I was in High School. My first program I ever completed was the classic Bigger Faster Stronger program! I used an old rug and spray paint to make a dot drill station. I built my own Prowler Sled out of wood and metal scraps. I even went out and found an old tractor tire to do endless flips on my street’s dead end. I wanted to be the next Vince Helmuth (HUGE bonus points if you know that name!).
My programming has come a long way since those sled push relays and endless tire flips I did when I was 15. I've deepened my understanding of effective training methodologies. However, I've noticed a concerning trend: the decrease of pure, hard work. Nowadays, it feels like everyone's looking for the path of least resistance – the best results with minimal effort. That's not how it works. Chasing results without the sweat and strain that it takes to produce them.
My goal with creating programs and courses, like The Gridiron Warrior, is to combine the science and the sweat. I want my athletes to have the program and results that I didn’t have during my athletic career. But I also don’t want to sugar coat the effort that it will take to achieve those goals.
If you are a Coach, continue to provide the best experience to your athletes that you can. Yes, that involves creating a great program, but more importantly, it’s fostering accountability and pushing your athletes through the grind and sweat needed to be successful, both in and out of the gym.
Until the next one.

P.S. – If you yourself are looking for a new training program to hold YOURSELF accountable, consider switching to the Leech Letters Monthly Membership. New training program sent every month. This month is phase 1 of a 12 week Bodybuilding program called the 'The Villain Arc'. Only two weeks in, but I’m feeling great on it myself.
P.S.S. (Last one I promise) - If you haven't checked out my FREE Daily Habit Tracker Guide, please do so! I've personally used it to lose and keep off almost 40lbs last year, during some of the busiest time of my life! Hopefully you find it helpful too.
