Cause and Effect. Simple idea, but it can quietly impact us, especially in coaching. What you’re dealing with today probably started a few days ago. It’s rarely just about the moment in front of you. If your players look slow on Thursday, it’s probably not a Thursday problem. Chances are you pushed too hard or too long on Monday or Tuesday. You didn’t know it then, but that fatigue you’re seeing now is just the delayed effect of choices made earlier in the week. Same thing at home. If you’re hitting the fast food on Thursday night, that’s not Thursday’s fault. That’s a Sunday problem. You didn’t stock the fridge. You didn’t plan. Everything has roots further upstream than we think. So here’s the challenge. Don’t just treat symptoms. Don’t just fix what’s right in front of you. Step back. Trace it back. Find the cause. That’s how you stop problems from repeating. That’s how you build stronger athletes. That’s how you get better, week after week.
