Kingston, R.I. · February 14, 2026 · One coach to another
I’m going to be honest. I’m getting a little tired of how AI is creeping into everything we do.
Don't get me wrong, there is a ton of information out there. AI is a powerful tool. You can absolutely use it to your advantage. Heck, I even went back to school for a Master's in Data Science because I saw the writing on the wall.
But in the rush to optimize everything, I think we are missing the one thing that actually matters.
Human connection.
You can use a computer to write a perfect training block. But a computer will never be able to feel out a group. It can't see how athletes are responding in real time. It cannot read the room.
There are things a coach on the floor, in the trenches, can figure out in seconds that a model trained on data will never understand.
ChatGPT might look at a workout and say it does not align perfectly with the science. A coach knows that from a culture standpoint, from a team standpoint, that exact session might be exactly what the group needs that day.
I see the same issue with how we learn.
It is too easy now to have ChatGPT build a presentation and help you sound like an expert. But that is not the same as going to a conference and learning hands-on. It is not the same as shadowing a coach for a day and watching how they solve problems when things go sideways.
That is why my Gridirion Warrior Summer Summit is built different. Completely hands-on, all day, from coaches with more real world knowledge than a machine could ever have.
I do not want to stand there as a presenter reading from a PowerPoint. I do not want you sitting there passively absorbing slides. I want us learning from coaches who have been in the trenches, doing the work.
There is value in being in the room. There is value in getting your hands dirty.
We have to get back to learning on the job.
