No List This Year

It is my birthday week.

Normally, this is where I drop a list. I did "32 for 32" and "33 for 33". The expectation is that I give you 34 thoughts for 34 years.

I am not doing that this year.

I sat down to write it, and I realized something: I was forcing it. I was about to give you filler just to hit a number. I was about to half-ass the work just to check a box.

If I can’t give you 34 points of high value, I won’t give you any. There is a lesson in that alone. What I will do is at least share a few things on my mind today.

A year ago, I wrote my birthday letter stuck in an airport after a family vacation.

If you told that version of Scott Leech where I would be today, I wouldn’t have believed you.

We constantly underestimate ourselves. We underestimate how hard we can push, how much we can handle, and how far we can actually go in 365 days.

That is why you must set your goals unimaginably high.

The growth I saw this year didn't happen by accident. It came from two things:

1. Proximity: I got into the right rooms with the right people.

2. Courage: When new doors opened, I walked through them.

You can work hard in isolation, but you will move faster when you surround yourself with people who are already playing at the level you want to reach.

I am setting the bar higher than ever for 34.

I am excited to push. And I’m not just doing it for me. I’m doing it for the people who love and support me.

If you have been part of this journey, I appreciate you. But we aren't done.

Let’s see just how far we can take this thing.

Keep the Fire Burning,

Leech
